In the winter months of 2012, I was with my twin grandchildren Ari and Kai, they were 3 1/2 years of age, and were painting outside on slabs of rough sawn timber. As I just bought a new camera and was keen to learn how to use it, so, as practice I photographed the progress throughout their ever changing artwork. On seeing these photos on the computer, many recognisable images became obvious. By adding some artistic detail to their work, a new artwork was created. Arikai Reverse Art was born. ARIKAI is simply the names of my twin grandchildren ARI and KAI, joined together.
