I was asked to create an artwork by Thornton Brothers Roses of Thirlmere. The dark rose was hard to photograph to capture all the detail. The rose was places in a black teardrop vase and placed on a white panel so that I had a white background. The low winter sun coming in the window cast a black shadow on the panel. The photograph was taken from above to maximise the rose image. On viewing the image on the computer, the shadow blended in the vase.
The yellow rose was placed in the vase and photographed and on viewing the image the rose looked like a face. After adding her eyes she looked like a model. I lengthened her dress and then she looked like "Rosie down the catwalk" the addition of the steps set the scene and became that new artwork.
"Go fetch the stick" is the partner using a red rose in the black vase.
