The background image used to create this scene was the a photo of a burnt out van I came across along the side of the road one afternoon after my market day. Like a good scout, I was prepared with my camera. This image is the door pillar texture after the van was burnt out. The texture cuaght my interest as it looked like a mosaic. On seeing this on the computer screen and turning it to landscape format I saw lots of animals in front of the out of focus horizon, which was caused by the fold in the pillar. I imagined a water trough in the foreground. Minimal detail was added to complete the outback scene created in this artwork. Stretched canvas is 32" x 16"

This scene is visible on a very old lichen covered dead piece of firewood, too...
Gum trees can have some lovely very simple bark textures and colours as is seen...
